Dear friends today we have C.S. Miller, author of The Coldest Case here on our blog to discuss the disappearance of the US Senator's daughter.
C.S. please tell
us a little bit about yourself,
I grew up in Texas. Was a reporter –
both print and broadcast – for many years.
My primary focus has been as a legal correspondent, covering the courts and law enforcement agencies.
It sounds like you had a very exciting and fascinating career. How did you decide to enter the world of writing?
I begin as a reporter, but started
writing books a number of years ago.
What
does your family think of your writing?
They’re very supportive.
Where
do you get your ideas?
My ideas for my books in many cases come
initially from the news.
Can you tell us
a little about your book?
My
most recent book, THE COLDEST CASE, deals with a 13-year old case involving the
disappearance of the daughter of a US Senator that has been handed down to a
young detective by a retiring officer. It’s one of a number of unsolved cases.
The young detective is moved to seriously review the matter, even though he
isn’t on the cold case squad, after the girl’s mother beseeches him to do what
he can.
What is your
writing process?
I usually have a general idea
for a starting point, but I let the story go where I feel it naturally should
go. I have never used an outline.
That sounds like me, lol. I do use a timeline to keep track of the events. What
was the hardest part for you when working on your book?
I just
need more time to write.
I certainly can related to the time issue C.S. What
influenced or inspired you to write?
My imagination.
Was
there a scene that you didn't add or you removed in your finished work?
There are many removed after revising and revising.
I can’t recall any that I didn’t add that I thought were germane to the story.
Do
you have a favorite character (from you're book)? Why?
The young detective because I
have always admired those who tilt at windmills, and are ultimately successful.
Do
you already know what to write next? Can you tell us?
I have completed my next book. I will be sending to my editor in the next
few days.
